With a new envelope traitment, very interesting by his functional and aesthetic side, the old & re-made building appears now as a signal marking the urban landscape, like a singular margiela's object, a sculptural architecture that users can easily invest. Open to the area, this new building with opaque volumes affirms the cultural and festive dimension of this new equipment for the city of Joue les Tours. More infos about the project with the description of the architect here.

Aether apparel retail store in san francisco-usa by envelope A+D architecture & design

www.envelopead.com

Aether retail store is located in Hayes Valley, San Francisco (usa) and made by the architecture and design firm envelope A+D. The building is made from shipping containers conceived of with an ethic of sustainability, reuse and modularity. In the future it is envisioned that these very small retail spaces would be inhabited for example by different businesses or community groups. We can see this inexpensive project , as a response to economic difficulties that we cross, and that requires an adaptation of thinking and construction to limit the economic impact of construction in the economic life of a city or a business...

Roly House by Erpicum / Atelier d'Architecture Bruno Erpicum & Partners

0230 ROLY Houses/Location:Belgium/Additional Floor area:40m2/Photographer: Jean-Luc Laloux

Original architect description :

This is a small outbuilding which has been extended and transformed into a house – now a bed and breakfast. The aim was to introduce steel sheets into the existing structure to create a mezzanine floor; the aim then was to extend these sheets outdoors in order to create a living room enclosed solely in glass which opens out generously into the natural surrounding environment. The architect has taken care to blend the new elements into the existing building. The work carried out has not been to the detriment of the old building. The original heavy and solid features of the old building are still clear for all to see, and these features contrast with the extremely soft touch of the more recent work which has been carried out, the intention of which is obvious: the inclusion of features which create a contrast and which are not a close replication of the existing features.Roly-House-by-Erpicum--Atelier-d-Architecture-Brun-copie-3.jpgRoly-House-by-Erpicum--Atelier-d-Architecture-Brun-copie-4.jpg Roly-House-by-Erpicum--Atelier-d-Architecture-Brun-copie-5.jpg Roly-House-by-Erpicum--Atelier-d-Architecture-Brun-copie-6.jpgRoly-House-by-Erpicum--Atelier-d-Architecture-Brun-copie-7.jpg

Clad in reclaimed regional wood, stone and steel the home is intended to make a minimal impact on the natural resources and merge effortlessly with its idyllic surroundings of forest, stream and mountain. Solar collectors provide needed energy for power and hot water, while extremely large operable panels of insulated glass blur the boundaries between inside and out further enforcing a connection and deep respect of place. »
