DOM YOUDAN RELEASES DEBUT EP & VIDEO FOR TITLE TRACK 'TIGERLILY'

London-born and Sydney-based artist Dom Youdan has arrived with his debut EP Tigerlily, out now. An entrancing blend of electro-pop and folk sounds, Tigerlily promises a thrilling new sound from a young artist hitting the scene full-formed. The title track, Tigerlily, acts as the perfect encapsulation of an EP looking to explore the anxieties and excitements of young love. Weaving together contemporary sounds and ethereal atmospherics all within a traditional folk composition, Tigerlily seeks to portray a tale of love without borders.

Love for me is this extremely personal emotion, even thought you share it with someone,”explains Youdan. “It’s the conversation you have with yourself; that moment you realise your heart is hooked on someone. It’s an incredible but really daunting feeling.” The personal nature of Tigerlily is immediately apparent as the track strips itself back to “skin and bones”, before the epic driving sounds of the chorus kick in. At the centre of the Tigerlily EP is Dom Youdan’s own story of travelling over 10,000 miles from London to his new home in Sydney, all in the pursuit of a girl. Taking its name from a character in J. M. Barrie’s Peter Pan, Tigerlily creates a new sun-drenched Neverland out of Youdan’s adopted home in Australia, filled with blissful, hypnotic synths.

Dom explains:“It’s raw and emotional at times, but at others it’s quite loose and a lot of fun. At the centre of it, Tigerlily is trying to look at love in a slightly different way, in its elation as well as its insecurities.”
