Danish artist Louis Rustum shares new single 'Watch Me'. He makes groovy future R&B and has been supported by the likes of Phil Taggart on BBC Radio 1, Earmilk, Wonderland and Noisey ... The track is dropping ahead of his London show at Birthdays on Monday 20th and if you'd like to get an idea of the vibe, you can check out the wavy session he did for Colors Berlin just below.

‘Watch Me’ blends Rustum’s dynamic fusion of pop, R&B and ethereal beats into a tranquil and confident new offering. Taking inspiration from Frank Ocean, Bon Iver and James Vincent McMorrow, the twilight track shifts between Louis’ tender vocals, neat guitar licks and pensive drum patterns. Singing “I’m about to lift off, don’t intervene when I’m about to escape. Watch me make it on my own”, his new offering is all about individualism and independence.
 
Discussing his collaboration with friend and producer, Mathias Klysner, Rustum states that "[he] always takes me new places in terms of challenging my abilities. He always makes me look towards different angles. So the song is really about a certain liberation that I´ve found in my life after leaving things behind."

Louis Rustum’s music career began in Aarhus in 2014, where he, producer duo Orbit Crew (Carl Barsk and Mathias Lion), and music collective Hukaos (Karl William, Thøger Dixgaard, Tais) put Aarhus on the map as Denmark’s main epicentre of urban R&B. In 2014, Rustum released his critically acclaimed debut EP ‘Tomorrowtonite’ that gained wide recognition amongst native media outlets, becoming the first Danish release to feature on Noisey. It didn’t take long for Louis to find success on an international scale, with follow-up releases garnering support from the likes of Earmilk, Wonderland, Hillydilly and Complex, as well as securing a session with Colors Berlin who praised him as one of the “breakout artists to watch” in 2017. Despite this hype, Rustum decided to step back from the limelight, retreating to Malaga with Orbit Crew to develop his sound further, drawing on inspiration from his previous travels in Brazil and his curiosity for 70’s and 80’s R&B/soul.

With an acclaimed EP under his belt and a headline show at Dalston’s Birthdays on 20th November, Louis Rustum is certainly living up to Colors Berlin’s predictions, as he returns to the forefront of the future R&B scene.
