"This international railway station in Akhalkalaki is part of the construction of the new Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, connecting Azerbaijan and Turkey through Georgia. Improving the economic relations between Europe and Asia this connection is of strategic importance for all three countries. A different gauge of the rail lines requires a break-of-gauge in Akhalkalaki, the first stop on Georgian side near the Turkish border. With its undulating cantilevers the stations roof and meshed metal façade will give shelter to up to 3 million passengers per year. " The Architect
